The upcoming European Environmental Funders Group  annual meeting on 12- 13 November in Philanthropy House, Brussels promises to be an exciting and dynamic meeting full of opportunities for sharing knowledge, learning and networking.

The EEFG 8th annual meeting will give funders and diverse stakeholders working in the field of environment to connect and exchange intelligence as well as reflection on funding opportunities and collaboration.

What will be discussing?

  • The different scenarios for the upcoming European elections and the impact on the environmental sector
  • Priorities and funding at EU level after the  Europe 2020
  • New channels of citizens’ engagement and participation
  • New projects, funding opportunities and collaboration among funders

During the meeting you will also have the chance discover the results of the new mapping ‘Environmental funding by European foundations – volume 4’.  This multi-year mapping is the most comprehensive study to date on the support for environmental initiatives provided by European foundations allowing funders to explore trends and approaches used to shape environmental giving.

  • More than 4,000 grants
  • 86 foundations from 14 countries involved
  • A total amount of more € 600 million
  • Areas covered: climate & atmosphere, energy, transport, agriculture & food, biodiversity, terrestrial ecosystems and land use etc.

For the first time the mapping also includes preliminary results of a pilot study on the capacity of environmental NGOs across Europe.

As part of the EFC’s commitment to fostering peer-learning and enhancing collaboration among its members, we have organised a joint session of the EEFG and the Gender Equality Thematic Network.  This follows directly after the end of the EEFG meeting and will focus on the use of a gender lens in the environmental context.
